Demystified: funding your studies
Bundle deal
£20 in… potentially thousands of pounds out! Find out how I am studying my Master's at zero personal cost...
Your university degree is likely to be the first big investment you make in yourself, and you are expected to do it at only 18 years old! If you then wish to study at postgraduate level, you either have to take out a loan with higher interest, self-fund, or try to get scholarships / external funding. Many students, especially those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, can be put off from pursuing postgraduate courses for these reasons.
In addition to this, medicine is one of the longest university courses, especially if you decide to intercalate (spend a year doing an extra degree). Fortunately, I was able to fund my Master’s degree at the University of Cambridge with the NHS Bursary and 3 scholarships. I have also received bursaries and money from academic prizes to support my studies at medical school. I have worked many flexible jobs since my first year of university and created passive streams of income by selling digital products and securing paid partnerships via social media.
This e-book compiles all the experience and knowledge about funding I’ve learned in one place!
